#17b—VINTAGE—1961 LEATHER-LIKE JACKET+/Clothes for 12” Ideal Shirley Temple Doll

I am downsizing and must sell all of my 12” Shirley Temple doll
outfits.  After this week, I will be selling my last three Shirley
auctions produced from 1961-1962.

This leather-like
jacket, felt pants and matching hat was one of the outfits made by the Ideal
Company for their 1958-1962, 12” Shirley Temple doll.
It is outfit #
9775
and is shown on page
171 of Tonya Bervaldi-Camaratta’s reference book,
The Complete guide to Shirley
Temple Dolls and Collectibles
in
2006.
She states that the set was produced in 1961 and consisted of a
leatherette coat, felt pants and matching hat and scarf
—
the scarf is missing from this
lot
.
The reference mentioned
above does not show a scarf, but this outfit is pictured with a red scarf on
page 186 of the reference,

by Judith Izen in 1999.
The ‘leather’ coat is in Excellent/Near Mint condition with No
problems that I can see.
The coat has
secure gripper snaps with no missing paint on the tops of the snaps.
It is clean with no marks, stains, tears,
holes or missing stitches.
The only
issue with the pants is that there are a few tiny holes in the felt on the side
of one of the pants’ legs.
The ‘brass’
gripper snap is still secure and I see no tears, stains or missing
stitches.
There are no holes in the
matching felt hat, but as you can see, one ribbon tie is missing and the other
ribbon is wrinkled and dingy.
Some of Shirley’s clothing items were not
tagged, and this is one that is not tagged.

This
outfit has been in my collection for many years.  I have a smoke free home
and I do not smell unpleasant odors on it, but I cannot guarantee what
environment it came from.  In my opinion, this collectible set will make a
nice addition to your collection—
it did
in mine for many years!
